The picture of the Vicarage was found in a drawer by the current owners. It is believed to show Rev’d Arthur William Matthews Drew, born 1858 in Bradninch, Devon where his family owned a paper mill.
He was Vicar of St Peter’s, North Rauceby 1888 – 1919
Pictured with him may be his sister, Helen Mary Drew, who in 1911 was living with him in the Vicarage, occupation – private teacher.
An article from a local newspaper describes how in 1889 on July 6th, Rev’d Drew was the officiating priest at a fashionable wedding which took place at Rauceby Church between Rev’d Thomas Randall and Miss Emily Reeves (foster sister to Rev'd Arthur Drew).
The bride and bridegroom walked to the church from the Vicarage and after the couple had left for their honeymoon, the children of the village were invited to the Vicarage to play games and other amusements. The Rauceby Band was in attendance and there was a display of fireworks.
On retiring, Rev’d Drew returned to Devon where he died aged 84.
